This slide shows how this network can be rearchitected to to capitalize on an integrated multiservice network over IP.
The endpoints have either been upgraded to IP, or adapted to H.323 with a VTA. In some cases, older equipment nearing the end of its support life may be replaced.
A new H.323 MCU is added to provide multilocation conferencing facilities.
Connectivity to external locations is provided by a centralized gateway “service” from the central location (a district office in this case).
Similarly, this architecture could be used with a large enterprise which had high-bandwith IP connections between campuses.
Additional MCUs and gateways could be deployed in the satellite locations if needed.
