SaMBa is an open-source file and print server and client, using SMB (Server Message Block) protocol. As the result of the open-source development, the SaMBa is excellent to connect basically different systems like UNIX and windows. The original SMB clients were developed for small networks, this lead to some difficulties on the campus-wide networks. In this work I describe a typical SaMBa configuration, enhanced by LDAP-based user authentication. I show a possibility to improve the multi-subnet computer browsing with SaMBa.
