After three years of development with the merge of two separate databases running under DOBIS/LIBIS the National Széchényi Library started to use its new integrated library system Amicus in production on 18th December 2000. During the migration two different database structures were matched. The result of the process is one of the largest electronic library catalogues in the country. With the use of Amicus the National Széchényi Library became the member of the most prestigious groups of national libraries also using Amicus. They are the National Library of Canada, the National Library of Australia, and the British Library. The paper is about the various aspects of the migration and about the new possibilities of the National Széchényi Library.
