The University of Debrecen, the University of Szeged and Szent István University have recently started a project that aims to create an LDAP based directory service. Although the work has just begun, it's worth mentioning.

Our goal is the creation of a directory service that is accessible through a web interface, and contains several parameters of general interest about staff members and students, such as telephone number, e-mail address, etc. It will be a base of a unified mailing system for the university, too. In the near future we want to extend this service to provide easy access to network related resources for all our staff and students. We want to provide maximum service with minimal administration, and LDAP is an ideal and flexible tool to achieve this. Besides all these, we must mention the possibility of storing PKI (Public Key Infrastructure) related data in an LDAP database, which is also a current issue.
