The great Western-European challenges (of the 60’s and 70’s) appeared after the change of the regime in Hungary. The number of students doubled compared to the 80’s. Though the traditional correspondence course, the evening - and the latest appeared distance learning forms gained ground, they did not bring breakthrough in the complete higher education. The reason for this can be that the uncommon educational forms were certainly able to serve a huge amount of people, however in respect of quality they do not live up to the expectations.

“The sparrow is a songbird as well, but he graduated from the correspondence course” phrase well represent the public opinion about the correspondence, evening etc. uncommon educational forms. The problem of mass education is unavoidable nowadays, as the number of students means a permanent proportion of the higher educational age-group. The students’ educational service of a high standard is helped by many well-known education sponsoring softer (Gólya, Neptun etc.). On the other hand, nor the syllabuses neither the educational usage of the information infrastructure and the educational methodology do not take advantages of the information revolution. Considering the education as an interactive information aquisition we are sure that after the universal usage of e-mail and e-commerce, the e-learning will also become an everyday concept and technology. Especially the electronic education used by synchronic methods encourage with good results as we can bring the student close to the teacher and thus eliminating the disadvantages of the impersonalised educational forms (regular?evening?correspondence?distance learning).
