One of the primary aims of current research on the field of electronic government is studying of how state-of-the-art information and communications technology (ICT) can effectively support and improve performance of public administration. With rapid development of electronic commerce several tools, methods, and techniques are available to improve
citizens’ access to public information
internal cooperation and collaboration of departments and agencies of local and central governments
government’s service delivery function to fulfill existing needs and future expectations of citizens.
Beside these goals another important task of electronic government is to actively involve citizens in public decision making processes and democratic public life.
Our talk will discuss four aspects of electronic government
reengineering and redesign of administrative processes by continuous improvement
management of distributed knowledge in organizations
tele-cooperation, computer supported collaborative work
application of agent technology to make electronic government intelligent.
In the last part of our talk opportunities and chances of e-democracy will be discussed.
