András Déri, Csaba Fülöp, András Micsik:
Telephony services using VoiceXML
VoiceXML is one of the newest recommendations of the
W3C designed for
the description of voice controlled dialogs, thus
trying to introduce
the advantages of WWW in the world of telephony. A
“side-effect” of
this recommendation can be the interconnection of WWW
and telephony.
Voice browsers are accessible through any phone set,
and provide an
easy and standardised base for the development of
novel voice-based
applications. The EU sponsored PublicVoiceXML project
completed the
implementation of a free open source voice browser.
Within this
project the Department of Distributed Systems (DSD) of
MTA SZTAKI
implemented several examples of applications
accessible both via
phone and the Internet. DSD also co-ordinates the
international
development of the free PublicVoiceXML software.
