In the lecture I would like to give an overview
of the last 10 years concerning the network development and the challenges of
local infrastructure. In spite of the effort the Institute made during the last
5 years to increase the level of the infrastructure, the devices serving the
research and education are not satisfying the requirements of the digital age.
On the other hand, with the developments that had been made so far, the quality
of the data transfer and the management of the working system has been
definitely improved. Our aim in the future involves the possibility of further
technical development and better integration to the existing education and
research networks.
Introducing the Internet technology brought a
lot of changes in our college as well. It has been materialised especially in
gaining and transferring information and in the development of contacts between
institutes and individuals (lecturers and students as well). A number of
fruitful contacts has been formed with foreign colleges particularly in
computer aided education and in e-learning as well. More and more courses apply
Internet services in a direct or indirect way.
In the lecture I am going to give an image of
our technical developments in the near future and I would also like to sketch
our long-term plans.
