Hungarian Electronic Library (MEK) Web service started nine years
ago, and has been heavily used by visually disabled people. The original system
became to be out of date by nowadays, so we developed a new home page with new
storing, searching and other services. The new services cannot be used easily
by screen
reader softwares because of the more complex
funcionality.
This is why we have been developing separate home page for users
with visual disability based on W3C Web
Access Initiative. The main points are the following:
Home page and searching abilities designed for screen
reader softwares and suitable for visually partially disabled as well.
List for downloading (topics, novelties).
Downloading suitable formats for text to speech softwares.
Plans for online text to speech conversion.
